One of the best places for a picnic. Mesmerizing nature is assured.
Very nice location inside Mundanthurai tiger reserve. No boating now, if it was there we could venture Banatheertham inside forest. But try a one kilometer walk by the side of the dam it's really worth!

This dam was built across two mountains the last one is not in shape to build a dam so it has been eroded by the people using bombs and hand tools and this dam was built
Good place to see and walk. Thamiraparani EB office will be there on the way. It's photography restricted area. Boating has been temporarily stopped due to so court order.
Karayar Dam is also know as the Upper Dam,which is situated across the hills in such a way that the water comes and stores in the Dam. This place intially had boating for the tourist,now it's not stopped. There are people settled near the dam who have settled there from many years,they have built a small wooden bridge to cross and have built homes.
It is in western ghat hills in tiger sanctuary .power production throughput the year. Picturesque hillock. Lots of people are living near this dam. Wonderful place to tour.
